Extruder first run

After the nozzle has reached temperature push the filament by hand using the snipe nose pliers to check that it will extrude.

Once this had been established the pressure bearing can be refitted and the springs tightened.

• Set the extruder temperature as described in the previous section (page 42).

• The temperature needs to be a minimum of twice the melting point of the polymer being used, or as per the suggested

temperatures in the appendix.

• Note that the melting point of any polymer will be specific to the individual supplier and the actual chemical

composition and can vary considerably between suppliers. e.g. not all ABS’s are the same.
